Over $25k raised for Deputy Solano's Family!

What a success! On Wednesday, June 19th Baja Cali Fish & Tacos teamed up with Temple City Sheriff's Station to hold a fundraiser at Temple City Park on behalf of the family of slain Deputy Joseph Solano. When the owners announced that 100% of the food sales would be donated, many were happy to attend.

We served tacos, ceviche, rice & beans. The cooks struggled to keep up with the demand. Law enforcement officials, Baja Cali customers, friends and family and community members lined up to support. The line was so long that it snaked out to the park sidewalk.

Despite the long lines and hot sun, everyone was so patient and the focus remained on the goal at hand. Thanks to the local news outlets running multiple stories, many were aware of the event and were excited to come out and contribute to the cause. One passerby who couldn't find a parking spot just waved down an event attendee and handed him money, asking him to drop it in the donation box.

Donated items were raffled off and guests had an opportunity to sign a memory board. One woman paused in front of the poster and sobbed. She spoke to the deputy in the photo, telling him what a pleasure it was to work with him.

Overall the energy was upbeat and positive. His girlfriend and step daughter and other of their family members came by to participate. She shared some fun memories and expressed how nice it was to hear all of the stories that people had shared about Joseph. Since he didn't have any social media accounts, she hadn't seen or heard from a lot of the people he had impacted.

We will be forever grateful to all of our amazing customers who responded to our posts on Instagram and Facebook who came out to so generously show love - especially to a perfect stranger. What a heartwarming sight to see.
